Trump accused of "despicable lies" by Iran.

Iran vehemently rejected President Donald Trump's assertion that it had sought US mediation in its conflict with Israel, branding his statement a "despicable" fabrication. This forceful rebuttal came as Trump hinted at the possibility of a US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, escalating tensions further.

The Iranian Mission to the United Nations issued a sharp statement on X, directly refuting Trump's claim. Their post unequivocally stated that no Iranian official had ever requested assistance from the White House, adding that Trump's threat against Iran's Supreme Leader was even more contemptible than his lies.

Earlier, during a White House press engagement, Trump responded evasively to a question about potential US military action against Iranian nuclear sites. He cryptically stated that a decision remained uncertain, highlighting the unpredictable nature of his foreign policy. However, he did reveal that Iran had initiated contact, to which he responded that it was "too late" to negotiate, referencing the country's previous rejection of a US-proposed nuclear arms deal.

Trump's comments further clarified his stance, emphasizing a desire to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while simultaneously asserting his unwillingness to engage in protracted conflict. His controversial call for "unconditional surrender" was also explained; it represented his ultimate resolve and frustration with the situation, signaling the end of his patience in negotiations. The ambiguous nature of his pronouncements, coupled with the escalating rhetoric, left the international community on edge.
