CoinDCX has confirmed that roughly 15.99 million USDT vanished following a security breach involving its legacy wallet infrastructure. The disclosure comes after the exchange initially rebuffed rumors of a fresh hack, only to later verify that compromised legacy accounts were at the heart of the incident.
According to information circulated by the platform, the unauthorized transfers originated from older wallet systems rather than its primary operational wallets. While the company had previously downplayed reports of another intrusion, blockchain data and internal investigations ultimately linked the missing funds to those outdated repositories.
In an effort to calm investors, CoinDCX stressed that customer balances continue to be secure and fully backed. The exchange maintained that user assets remain untouched despite the multimillion-dollar depletion, pledging to reinforce its wallet architecture and prevent further exposure.
