The blockchain landscape experienced a noticeable decline in developer engagement this week, yet Ethereum remained the clear frontrunner in terms of activity. According to data sourced from Santiment, the top ten chains by developer involvement were ranked as follows: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Cosmos, Optimism, Solana, Avalanche, Cardano, and Harmony.
Ethereum led the pack with 9,200 developer‑related events, marking a 27.5 % drop from the previous week. The network also saw 70 contributors, a steep 92.8 % decrease. Despite the downturn, Ethereum’s sheer volume of activity keeps it at the summit of the sector.
BNB Chain secured second place, generating 4,700 events and attracting 25 contributors. Both metrics slipped—12.4 % for events and 95.4 % for contributors—yet the chain still maintained a robust presence. Polygon followed closely, recording 4,100 events and 15 contributors, with declines of 10.8 % and 96.2 % respectively.
Arbitrum’s week included 3,400 events, a modest 4.9 % decline, and 17 contributors, down 94.6 %. Cosmos stood out as the sole chain to register growth, posting 3,300 events—a 3.3 % increase—though its contributor count fell by 12.4 %. Optimism also logged 3,300 events, but experienced a 12.4 % drop. Solana’s activity fell 14.9 %, with 3,200 events and a 96.2 % reduction in contributors.
Avalanche, positioned eighth, reported 3,100 events, while Cardano and Harmony trailed with 2,900 and 2,600 events respectively, both reflecting significant decreases in developer participation. Overall, the week’s data paints a mixed picture: a few chains managed modest gains, yet most saw sharp contractions in both event counts and contributor numbers.
