SwissBorg Crypto Platform Hacked, Losing $41M+ in Supply Chain Attack

09.09.2025 02:25

Based on information from internet sources, a major supply chain attack is currently underway, potentially jeopardizing numerous blockchains and impacting cryptocurrency holders globally. Ledger's CTO, Charles Guillemet, revealed that a well-regarded developer's NPM account has been breached, affecting packages with over a billion downloads. Due to the widespread vulnerability within the JavaScript ecosystem, users are being urged to temporarily suspend all on-chain transactions as a precautionary measure.

In response to this escalating situation, Guillemet emphasized the importance of meticulous transaction verification for hardware wallet users, ensuring their safety by carefully examining each transaction before signing. For those not utilizing hardware wallets, a temporary halt to on-chain transactions is strongly advised until the full scope of the attack and potential seed theft from software wallets is clarified.

Adding to the day's concerns, SwissBorg, a cryptocurrency platform headquartered in Switzerland, reportedly fell victim to a hack, resulting in the theft of 192,600 Solana (SOL) coins, translating to approximately $42 million. SwissBorg attributed the security breach to a compromise of its partner API.
