OKB soars after OKX ecosystem revamp.

OKX's dramatic overhaul of its tokenomics has sent its native token, OKB, soaring. A significant one-time burn of over 65 million OKB tokens, coupled with upgrades to the X Layer, has fundamentally altered the token's future. This strategic move, drawing comparisons to Bitcoin's scarcity model, has injected considerable bullish sentiment into the market.

The burn, sourced from historical buybacks and reserves, permanently fixes OKB's total supply at 21 million. This elimination of minting and manual burn functions through a smart contract upgrade ensures a fixed and limited supply, fostering a deflationary model designed for long-term value stability, not a short-term price manipulation. The initiative aims to create durable deflationary pressure, rather than a fleeting market squeeze.

Following the announcement, OKB's price reacted explosively. Within an hour, the token experienced a remarkable surge of approximately 170%, leaping from around $47 to a high of $126. While prices later retreated somewhat, the 24-hour gains still exceeded 150%, with trading volume exceeding $1.83 billion and market capitalization approaching $7 billion, demonstrating the rapid shift in market sentiment. This volatility underscores the impact of the tokenomics overhaul.

The announcement resolves discrepancies in circulating supply figures reported by third-party trackers. While platforms like CoinGecko currently show a much higher circulating supply, OKX clarifies that the post-burn architecture will permanently cap the total supply at 21 million. Consequently, data providers will need to adjust their methodologies to reflect this change, highlighting the importance for traders to monitor both on-chain data and platform updates to accurately understand the updated supply metrics. This change, along with upgrades to the X Layer for DeFi, payments, and Real-World Assets (RWAs), positions OKX for future growth and sets the stage for a potentially more valuable and stable OKB.
