Hacken's $HAI token hacked on Ethereum & BSC.

A significant security breach has compromised Hacken, a leading Web3 security auditing platform. The incident, first reported by Cyvers Alerts, a Web3 security monitoring group, involved the compromise of Hacken's native token, $HAI, across both the Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) networks.

The attack resulted in a dramatic 90% initial plunge in the $HAI token's value. While the token subsequently saw some recovery, it remains significantly down, approximately 39%, from its pre-breach price. Hacken itself acknowledged the breach via its official social media channels, providing initial insights into the ongoing situation.

According to internet sources, the breach stemmed from the compromise of a private key associated with the $HAI token's bridge deployment. This compromised key granted the attacker control over the deployment wallet, effectively enabling the unauthorized minting of a substantial quantity of $HAI tokens. While the number of illicitly minted tokens was considerable, liquidity limitations on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) listing $HAI mitigated the overall financial impact.

The attacker managed to swap approximately $253,000 worth of $HAI (roughly 900 million tokens) through the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem before the breach was contained. Suspicious minting and transfer activity involving $HAI was also observed on both the Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain networks. Following the breach, Hacken immediately halted cross-chain functionality to further limit the damage.
