French authorities have announced the arrest of five individuals in connection with a high-profile kidnapping. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 22, are alleged to have targeted the father of a prominent cryptocurrency influencer residing in Dubai.

This incident highlights a recent surge in kidnappings across France, specifically targeting influential figures and their families. Criminals have grown increasingly brazen, committing these acts even in broad daylight, prompting urgent action from authorities. The alleged attack transpired in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, a town near the Swiss border. The suspects reportedly assaulted both the influencer's father and his wife within their home. When the ransom wasn't paid, the father was subsequently found restrained in the trunk of a car in the Sarthe department, hundreds of miles from his home. His wife was discovered bound in their residence.

Adding to the severity of the crime, prosecutors revealed that the victim's father was doused with gasoline before being placed in the vehicle's trunk. The abandoned car was located approximately 435 miles from the scene of the kidnapping. This led to a thorough investigation resulting in the arrest of the five suspects.
